About this site

Neighbors in the Word is a free, volunteer Bible reading group organized by Gary Meyer. People of many faiths, and people still exploring, read the Old and New Testaments together and share what they find. It is a personal project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any church, synagogue, mosque, or religious organization. Views shared by readers are their own. By signing up or using the site, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

Who can join

Your Reader ID and PIN

Your Reader ID and PIN are how you check in. Please keep your PIN private and don't use one you use for anything important. Only check in for yourself, unless you are helping someone with their permission (for example, the organizer entering a paper slip).

Our ground rules

We come from different faiths and won't always agree. That's OK. Everyone agrees to these rules when they sign up:

  1. Share what a verse means to you. Speak for yourself and your own faith.
  2. Ask honest questions, and listen to the answers.
  3. Don't argue, debate, or try to convert anyone.
  4. Never put down another person's faith, or their lack of one.
  5. Be kind. Assume the best about each other.

Posting thoughts, answers, and questions

The site is meant to help us learn from and encourage one another. When you post, please also:

Your posts are shared with the group under your Reader ID. By posting, you allow the site to show them to other readers, including on the Look Back page after each challenge ends.

Faith tags

You may add a faith tag to your account, like Catholic, Jewish, or "Just exploring." It's always optional. If you add one, it shows next to your Reader ID on your posts, and it is counted in group totals like "readers from 14 faith traditions." You can change or remove it at any time. Please use a tag that honestly describes you. The organizer may remove a tag that is used to mock or mislead.

Reporting and moderation

If a post breaks the ground rules, tap Report under it. Reports are private. After 3 different readers report a post, it hides itself until the organizer reviews it. Please report only real problems, not posts you simply disagree with.

The organizer may hide or remove any post, question, or account, or disable an account, if it doesn't follow these terms, or to keep the site safe and welcoming. Hosts are chosen by the organizer and the role can be changed at any time.

The site is provided as is

The site is offered free of charge as a volunteer effort. We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free, and progress or posts could be lost. The optional Google Calendar reminder button opens Google's website, which has its own terms.

Leaving the group

You can stop participating at any time. To have your information deleted, email the organizer. Parents and guardians can remove a family member at any time from the Check in page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms.

  5. Sé amable. Piensa lo mejor de los demás.

Publicar ideas, respuestas y preguntas
